Gambatte! Japan!!!

Hello, it's been awhile since I posted something here, since most of my class details are posted on my web, limrashidah.webs.com.

Anyway, just past this Thursday was the event Gambatte! Japan held at Blu Jaz. It was set up to raise funds for the recent earthquake and tsunami victims in Japan. Rehearsals for the show had to be done within 3 days, but it all turned out great! Everyone was very united and putting in alot of effort in making this event come alive!

Personally I choreographed and danced to 3 different songs:
- the first one was a hiphop item with a total of 14 of us including my students who were more than willing to help;
- the second one was a sexy 3 ladies item;
- the last one was a hiphop duo

It wasn't easy trying to coordinate everyone and put all these up within 3 days, but we made it and all the effort was well worth it!

Throughout the whole night, Blu Jaz was filled with people from all over the world. It was very amazing and touching to see how all the different races come together for 1 great cause. Overall, the event was a HUGE SUCCESS!!! :)

I am so happy that I could be a part of this, and that my students and friends were also supportive in one way or another, to the point that it made me tear! Something that truly touched my heart. I hope the people in Japan will be able to hold on and overcome this challenge as all of us are putting our hands together so that we can all overcome this together as one.

United We Boogie was AMAZING!!!

This event was a great success!!!

I bet every single person involved in this event enjoyed themselves as much as i did!!! Thank you to Patrick and Elm for making this event happen. And also big thank you to the amazingly wonderful choreographers!

Plus one last but not least thing, to all the new international friends that I made!
It's been such a great experience, and for me, it was really touching to see dancers from all over the world, from different styles, cultures, etc. come together to make this event a successful one. I was truly truly happy to see how so many different people came together as one, all for the love of dance. :)
So far, I think this event has been a one of a kind here in Singapore, or even in Asia, that has happened. I'm sure there will be more to come in the near future! I just cant wait!!!!!

In the meantime, im uploading pics as it takes quite awhile, so stay tuned!

United We Boogie!

Heyas! United We Boogie is now going on!

The showcase will be on this Friday at the Suntec Convention Centre.
This event will be HUGE HUGE HUGE as all the different countries are putting in alot of effort to make this show come alive!
Dancers from all over the world came down specifically just to participate in this event!

Also, various overseas instructors are here to teach some workshops, so make sure you look out for them! And especially choreographers from 'So you think you can dance', NAPPYTABS are here!!!!!!!!!

Personally, my experience learning from Nappytabs so far has been AMAZING!!!! I was soooo excited to hear that they were coming down, and now they are finally here! Plus, dancing together with so many international dancers, and training together under Nappytabs for the performance is just great!

Yay! So get ready to get blasted off your seats this Friday!

Hello!!!

Youth Olympic Games!

Hello!!!

Just a few updates on what's going on these days....
Guess the biggest one that everyone knows is the Youth Olympic Games!

I was there as a volunteer to help out in the Opening Ceremony, and will be there for the Closing Ceremony too! So far I think the fireworks were awesome, and I especially liked the ending of the Opening Ceremony when the torch arrived!
Also loved the songs, and it was great to see the all the spectators holding up their lighted doves in the air. Was a beautiful sight!

Realised I have not uploaded pictures for quite some time...so here goes!!!

The A&J open house hip hop peeps! Great great performance!

And here are the jazz peeps in black! haha..know a few of you were nervous cos it's your first time performing, and the routine was a little confusing to remember..haha but nevertheless it was still great! we all had fun! :)

And here are a few of the people who did the amazing flashmob! A pity I couldnt go down to all the locations to take pictures with everyone, since it all happened at the same time (though I would have loved to see everyone), but feedback for ALL locations for ALL dancers were AMAZING!!! so thank you once again and GREAT JOB!!!

Due to some workshop that the studio is holding on their own today, our usual classes are affected and are not on today.

Hiphop 1 will be tomorrow, Sunday 16may at 11am.
Jazz will be tomorrow, Sunday 16may at 12noon.
(No Hiphop 2 this weekend)

All classes will definitely be back to normal next Sat, 22may. Rest assured that our classes will not be affected anymore as the studio promises that it is only this one time it is going to happen. :)

Yeah!!!!!!!!!! Open house and the flashmob was a great success!!!
hehe it was of course filled with stress and anxiety, and lots of sleepless nights for me, but am soooooooooo sooooooo happy that all turned out well in the end!

For the A&J Danceworld open house,
THANK YOU to all those who came and support my hiphop and jazz class! Was soooo much fun with sooo many people! Also great to catch up wth so many of you after so long! And also much thanks to all those who did the short performances after! we didnt have that much time but we did it! yeah am so proud of all of you!!!

For the dance flashmob,
BIG BIG THANK YOU to all those who did at all the different sites! Feedback was all very good!!! And almost everyone of them participated so it is very very good! and i know we all had fun ya!

For the D&D,
it was really great too!!! everyone was very happy so thank you. I know there was alot of things going on, but at the end of the day, everyone was happy and everything turned out well. So i am really happy too!! yeah thanks guys..

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!! so am very very glad that everything went well. I cannot explain how much I feel, but it feels great to be back! Thou' sleepless nights at times, I consider all these good stress, haha! and i LOVE LOVE LOVE all my dancers who were involved with me this whole weekend for the open house and flashmob! THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH! :)

1) Phillip Wain is having its open house on Friday (23apr) and Saturday (24apr).

2) A&J Danceworld is also having its open house! But its on Saturday(24apr) and Sunday(25apr). Schedule of free classes for both days are on its website.

As stated, for my classes, it will be:
HIPHOP- Sat, 24apr, 1.15-2pm

Happy New Year Everyone!!!!

2009 has been a GREAT YEAR, and I do hope that 2010 will be even better for everyone!
Hope everyone had fun during the new year! As for me, I went with some friends to a small but very cosy and nice Spanish restaurant and according to their customs, its good to eat 12 grapes for gd wishes just before the new year to have a blessed new year! So we all had to do that and it was real fun!!! It's because it was literally about 1 second per grape, so by the 12th grape everyone's mouth was bloated, well for me of course and some of us couldnt stop laughing and yet had to put the grapes in our mouth! So it was all great fun!!!

Ok so all that aside, as you all might know, I'll be back really really soon! YEAH!!!

Just got myself a haircut a few days ago, the hairdresser was really fast, but it turned out pretty good I think? Let me know what you think? Heh anyway this pic is to all my friends whom I havent met for quite some time, so there you go, this is me!

Pretty much my usual haircut, but its neater now without all the tangled ends, and not so heavy when I dance! :p

hello dear all!

thousand apologies for this long awaited post...heh as I admit Im really not used to blogging and the main purpose that I set this up is so that any of you could contact me directly, so please still do so anytime! I do still check my email very often. :)

Anyway, I have had alot of questions, so here I am to answer those.. :)
I am currently taking a break from teaching for a few months, so that hopefully when I get back to teaching again, I could give you much more and you will love my class even more! :p hehe...about exactly when, I am not sure yet, but I will definitely be posting the date when I've confirmed it!

To the members/ friends, I announced before I left that I was coming back to teach, but Im sad to say that only after I left, I was told that I wouldnt be able to continue as the management only allowed 1 month break max. So I didnt get a chance to tell all of you that as of now, I am not going back to teach as I know some of you are intending to join/ renew/ extend your memberships thinking that I'll be back. Well there is no guarantee right now, maybe or maybe not. But I will definitely let you know if I ever go back. Speaking of which, I would want to thank every single one of you for your continued support, it was tough starting off with just 1 class with less than 10 people, to having more than 10 classes with more than 30 people in such a short period that I was there, but I enjoyed every moment that I was teaching, thanks to all of you.

To my other students/ friends, same goes that I will keep you posted on the date as well. And thank you also for bringing such joy to the class.

So a BIG THANK YOU to all of you who have been a part of my life, it's been great and really touching for me to know that I have helped you in some way or another, but I thank you even more for allowing me to. All of you have helped me a great lot too. And special thanks to all those who wrote the petition to get me back the last time. I did not have a chance to thank everyone personally the last time, so I hope you do get to see this, and yes thank you, deeply.

Happy new year everyone!

So far it's been great start, managed to catch up with family and friends during my free time. Only thing I know is I need to update by blog more often! Got to get my laptop repaired or get a new laptop soon I guess, will make it much easier for me to upload pics and videos when it doesnt keep restarting itself. As for now, it is still abit cranky at times, but will just make do with it. :p

Anyway, time flies really fast, was just reminiscing about alot of things the other day and its 2009 already! 2009 will be a great year with the many exciting things to come!

So here's what went on in 2009 so far...On 1st Jan 2009, I managed to meet up with a long time friend since sec sch days, whom I meet on average once every 2/3 years? We usually tend to forget the time when we last met, so this time since the date is easy to rem, we told ourselves to rem! Was a whole day of catching up over food...cant believe we were like eating from about 4pm all the way to late night...had tea/dessert, then dinner b4 a short walk, then supper...haha its really crazy, but getting to catch up with close friends is always fun! hugs :)

After which I had a good short getaway with my eldest sis, of which I got to spend time alone and with her. We shopped and ate alot most of the time, and I saw this super tall ice cream which I bought but not even halfway through and it fell! But it was all fun too! :)

Since then, its been back to work again, slightly busier at times, though these few days cos' of Chinese New Year I get a few days off. Nowadays, whenever I have the time, I will make the effort to catch up with family and friends. This is because since I started working full time, my working time is always the opposite of the normal population, so I tend to appreciate whatever time that I can spend with family and friends more. Also, when you've realised that you have lost your loved ones, you will learn to appreciate those that are still around. Never ever take anyone for granted. It's a very sad thing to know that someone has left, but at the same time it's also good to know that those people lived their lives to the fullest.

And today I met up with my two best buddies and we had a really fun time! heh so it's all a good start for 2009 and I'm sure there are many more good things to come in terms of family, friends, relationships, work and all other stuffs...so yes HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hello thank you to all for visting my blog! Really appreciate it.

Well, as promised, here is my 2nd post! Ha so so sorry for taking so long to write this post, as I'm really new to blogging and am not used to writing too much. :p
But anyway, was thinking about what to write, and since I have quite a number of qns asking me what im doing now, bla bla....so I decided to update thru' here.

Currently I am still a freelance dance instructor. Some of you may have known that I have resigned from my previous job, and I really want to thank all of you for your concern. But no worries, it just means I have more free time to catch up with my family and friends for now. And hopefully some of you out there will find this blog and we can keep in touch!

So that's basically it for now...hopefully in due time I can think of more things to write. Ha ciao!
